Change Your Status to Change Your Life

There’s this story I heard about a young blind boy. He was always seen seated at one corner of the street begging for alms. This became a daily routine as he was almost always there and wouldn’t miss a day for anything. Passersby often dropped their pennies in his bowl and this young boy will in turn bless them for the kind gesture.
One unique thing about him was, he had a small placard, and on it was written ‘I AM BLIND, PLEASE HELP ME’. That was the inscription on his placard and often people preferred him over other beggars on that same street just because of how he branded himself.
With all the placard, plus the inscription, and the supposed branding, this little one wasn’t getting enough for himself, let alone his family, who were living in abject poverty and so had used him as a decoy just to get end’s meat. This was getting frustrating until one day.
A very noble man was using the footpath and came across this young boy, upon seeing his condition, coupled with his tender age, was moved with compassion and so decided to offer some help. He had nearly dropped his widow’s mite when his eyes chanced on the placard and its inscription. Intermittently, the bowl was almost empty and it was already sunset.
This noble man quietly took the placard away instead, at the full glare of onlookers and therefore drew attention to himself because of his weird act. He had a heck of a time conveying the placard home as it did not come without a struggle with observers.
He succeeded in his quest and the next morning, he arrived with a new placard bearing a new inscription. The words on the new placard ‘IT’S A BEAUTIFUL DAY, BUT I CAN’T SEE IT’, almost worked magic for the young boy as he got surprised by the funds he was swooping home since that very day. His story had changed and the family through him and the noble man was transformed.
Point is, as we walk on this desert of life, many will be the challenges which will compel many of us to remain in the dungeon for the rest of our lives. It’s an undeniable fact that sometimes we wish and feel we were out of a certain situation but we just don’t know how, we desire to make it in life but our mountains of problem seem insurmountable.

God will help you. (I zip my mouth). Life most of the times struck us so hard that the appetite to continue surging forward almost turn into a bitter bile. Relax, let’s take a cue from the young boy’s story and change our statuses today, peradventure things will change. Keep your head high dear one, get out of that dungeon of failure, move away from your comfort zone, try out something new, change your status to change your life today. It’s very necessary!
